A Lincoln Police investigator saw a black 2003 Hyundai Santé Fe speeding at 25th and O Street at 7 p.m. on April 27th. They followed the vehicle until it pulled into the McDonalds parking lot at 21st and K Street. Investigators ran the plate and found out the vehicle had been stolen from Geneva.
As investigators tried to speak with the driver, he got out of the vehicle and ran. That led to a foot chase that went through a children’s flag football game. Investigators were then able to take him into custody.
The person was identified as a 16-year-old male who was wanted on a juvenile warrant. The juvenile had fled a group home in Geneva on April 25th. Ultimately, he was referred for Theft by Receiving (stolen vehicle) and Resist Arrest. He was lodged at the Youth Assessment Center on the warrant.
