A Lincoln police officer is recovering after being pushed head-first into a wall Sunday afternoon. Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 1500 block of Superior Street. When officers arrived, they located 30-year-old King Smith Booth, who was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant for leaving the scene of an accident.
When officers attempted to take him into custody, Officer Erin Spilker says he became argumentative. Spilker says Booth took off his backpack and reached inside of it. Officers saw the handle of what they believed to be a weapon inside the backpack.
Spilker says a lengthy struggled ensued and Booth shoved an officer into a brick wall causing a significant head injury. That officer needed stitches. An officer used a taser and Booth was able to be taken into custody. Officers located an 8-inch bladed knife in a sheath inside the backpack.
Booth was arrested for his outstanding warrant, Assault on a Police Officer, Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Prohibited Person, Resist Arrest, Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Obstructing a Police Officer.
