We all know who Ken Jennings is (if not, he is the most winning player in Jeopardy’s history), but do you know who Matt Amodio is? If you do, you either watch jeopardy, is jeopardy, or follow social media.
Regardless, Matt is making quite a name for himself as the newest person with a winning streak on the game show, though not necessarily for his winnings. While Matt is forming his answers in the form of a question, his grammar seems to be up for question.. Matt likes to answer all of his responses with “what is” . This is grammatically incorrect when referring to a person which should be” who is”.
The judges at Jeopardy have gone through through the book of rules only to find out and out that there are no rules in place when it comes to grammar. While Twitter has blown up with comments like

It seems that it doesn’t matter. The only rule is that it has to be in the form of a question.
Hold on to you hat for this one, the rule book for Jeopardy even allows for the responses to be “is it…?” The only time “Who is” or “What Is” is required is during “Final Jeopardy!”
At this point, it really doesn’t matter because Matt Amodio has amassed over $310,000 in winnings and five games, which means that he is now sitting on the bench until the Tournament of Champions.
Will the rules be clarified or changed by then? Probably not, but Jeopardy fans will be watching Matt’s every answer. Hater’s gonna hate.
Matt Amodio’s winning streak is still going strong! He now ranks #8 for highest winnings in regular season play! 👏 pic.twitter.com/zdbtOQbd4l
