LPD Uses Taser to Subdue Man Outside Credit Union

LPD officers were called to LincOne Federal Credit Union near 46th and ‘W’ just after 10:00 Monday morning after employees reported a fraud.   They told police a man in the lobby had completed a loan application using a false name and attempted to cash a $60,000 check.

“When officers arrived, 31-year-old Donnell Jones of New York got up, pushed an employee and ran out of the building,” says LPD Public Information Officer Erika Thomas.  “Officers pursued him and gave verbal commands to stop, but he kept running and jumped off a retaining wall into a neighboring restaurant parking lot.”

Thomas says an officer deployed his taser and was able to take Jones into custody.  He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for a broken ankle from the jump.
He was cited and released 3rd degree assault and obstructing a police officer.

The investigation is ongoing.
