The Lincoln Police Department has made an arrest in the death of 43-year-old Tracy Henman.  LPD says her boyfriend, 40-year-old Joshua Meyers of Lincoln, was released from the hospital on Saturday and taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for first-degree murder.

Henman’s body was found Thursday morning in her home near 56th and Holdrege.  Captain Ben Miller with LPD’s Criminal Investigations Unit says Henman was discovered after officers conducted a welfare check around 8 a.m.

Meyers was also found at the scene with injuries to his face, neck, and arms, Miller said.  More information will be released at the regular media briefing at 9:30 Monday morning.  On Saturday evening Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird issued a statement regarding recent incidents of domestic violence in Lincoln.

“Lincoln is mourning another tragic loss caused by domestic violence. Like you, I’m heartbroken that we have lost one of our neighbors and incredibly concerned that this is one of four fatalities resulting from domestic violence that our community has experienced this year.”

Gaylor Baird says as a community, we must continue to work together to prevent violence and protect our neighbors.  “In Lincoln, we are fortunate to have dedicated partners who stand ready with resources to help those experiencing domestic violence escape its grip”

One of these partners is Voices of Hope. Voices of Hope trained staff and volunteers offer 24-hour crisis intervention services. Through their telephone hotline at 402-475-7273 and through in-person, walk-in services, they provide assistance with safety planning, protection orders, financial resources and legal advocacy,

Another partner is Friendship Home. Friendship Home also provides 24-hour support through its crisis line at 402-437-9302 and offers safe, confidential shelter and advocacy for survivors and their children.

“If you or someone you know is affected by domestic violence, please reach out to one of these organizations. If you are looking for additional ways to help, please consider supporting these local nonprofits that provide lifesaving services to our neighbors,” Gaylor Baird says.
