LPD Confirms Fourth Domestic Violence Death This Year

Lincoln Police provided an update Monday morning on the death of  43-year-old Tracy Henman.  Her body was found inside her apartment near 56th and Holdrege last Thursday.  “We believe Tracy’s death is another incident of domestic violence that ended in the worst possible way,” says LPD Captain Ben Miller.

Police say this was the fourth domestic related murder in Lincoln this year and the sixth homicide of 2025.   “We’ve also rescued two women from nearly experiencing the same fate in just the last month,” says Assistant Chief Jason Stille.

Police say they were called by Henman’s family members to do a welfare check at her apartment after she failed to show up for work on Wednesday and Thursday.  Officers found Henman dead inside the apartment with wounds to her neck.  They also found Henman’s boyfriend, 40-year-old Joshua Meyers suffering from self inflicted injuries to his face and neck that were caused by an unknown sharp instrument.

Meyers was treated at the hospital and released Saturday night.  He was then taken to the Lancaster County Jail and booked for  first degree murder and weapons charges.  “There was no restraining order between the two of them, no protection order and had been in a dating relationship for a short period of time,” Miller says.
