23 years ago, the Tamagotchi was the big thing. The electronic pet that you had to feed, take to the potty, put to sleep and play with, or they would die. Back then, you would pay $10 for one (some were $7), but most kids would forget to take care of it and it would die, hence wasting the parent’s or kids money.
They were so popular, you would be hard pressed to find one…for some reason, my sister found a BUNCH of them, as they all died. So then we had a load of egg-shaped electronic toys that had no purpose aside from being a paper-weight.
I guess absence makes the heart grow fonder, ‘cuz they have returned. But they are “better” because they have a color screen, can have babies, have play dates, leave the house and so much more than clean up their poop.
Oh…and here is the best incentive to take care of your new Tamagotchi…the price: $59.99.
Or should I say, this is the motivation for parents to make sure the kids are taking care of their pets
Good luck with that. Suggestion, find a toilet and flush $60 down it, it will last as long.
