We have come to expect strange things to come from Florida and drugs to come from Oregon. So when I tell you about this odd story, you’ll probably say “yeah, I could see that happening.”
For some odd reason, walking through the sewage plant in New York City seems to be a romantic thing. For years the Brooklyn waste treatment plant has been open for tours on Valentine’s Day..
Unfortunately for New Yorkers, this year the waste treatment walk of love, like most things, will be going all virtual. But before you think this is a free tour, think again. You have to pay $5 for a one hour tous on Zoom between 430 and 530 Eastern standard time on Valentine’s Day.
So what is the tour all about?
“Grab a date (or join solo) and take a peek inside the city’s largest sewage treatment plant, where wastewater — collected from storm drains and the toilets and sinks of more than 1 million New Yorkers — is cleaned each day in a complex system, including eight giant stainless steel digester eggs…how the digester eggs got their shape, why you should not take a shower during a rainstorm and the real problem with ‘flushable’ wipes.”
Now, even if you don’t live in New York City, you can still go… virtual tickets are for sale through this link right here. Now you can see how the other half lives and how they flush their turds.
No matter how you slice it, this is a crappy Valentine’s gift.
