Lancaster County Commissioners on Thursday unanimously approved a special use permit for a large solar power farm in the northeastern part of the county.

The project will be spread across land that spans from North 148th Street to North 190th Street and O Street to North of Havelock Avenue.  The Ranger Power project will be the largest solar farm in Nebraska, covering about five square miles.

Last week a number of residents voiced their concerns to the board about a number of issues from fire protection to land values.
