The LEI-N rose by 0.73% during December 2021. The increase in the leading indicator, which is designed to predict economic activity six months in the future, signals moderate economic growth in Nebraska through June 2022.
Dr. Eric Thompson told KLIN News 3 components of the report were higher for the month and 3 were lower. Overall, the outlook remained positive.
One of the key components showing strength was the single-family home building permits which were up .53% in December. Initial Unemployment Claims and Business Expectations were also stronger.
Slight declines in Airline Passenger numbers, the dollar exchange rate and manufacturing hours were noted.
