The City of Lincoln will be rolling out the red carpet this weekend as fans from across the country come to town for the Big Ten Wrestling Championships. The two day competition will held at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
“To be able to bring some of the best wrestlers from across the nation into Lincoln and the Pinnacle Bank Arena is a real honor for us,” says general manager Tom Lorenz.
He says despite some staffing issues they have enough to run the two day event. “We’ll have plenty of ushers and we’ll have concessions covered well. We’re maybe a few people short of that, but we’ll be in great shape.” Lorenz says there is a lot of interest in the championship event. They have sold more than 10,000 all session tickets and individual session tickets are in short supply.
He says parking shouldn’t be an issue. “Lots of parking, You’ve got red deck, blue deck and green deck parking. We’ve got parking over in our festival space, which is just to the north of the arena.”
The two day sporting event will give downtown hotels and restaurants a big economic shot in the arm. “We always tell people come early and stay late,” Lorenz says. “Get here in plenty of time to be able to get parked and settled and maybe you can grab dinner after the event or during it. It’s just a great area for this.
