Lincoln Police have released results of the Click It Or Ticket enforcement effort that ran from May 23 through June 5. Officers focused on drivers, passengers and children who were not properly buckled up.

The goal of the project was to increase the use of seatbelts and reduce the likelihood of injury or death  in a traffic crash. There were a total of 497 citations, warnings and arrests. Among them were 57 seatbelt violations and 142 speeding tickets. Three criminal arrests were made.

92 people received citations for no valid registration and 26 drivers had no insurance.  Funding was provided by the Nebraska Department of Transportation-Highway Safety Office.

Statewide troopers with the Nebraska State patrol removed 40 impaired drivers from the road and cited 47 people for seat belt or child safety restraint violations.   Troopers also issued 855 citations for speeding.

The campaign closed with a busy weekend on Nebraska roadways. This weekend, troopers made 12 arrests for driving under the influence, cited 8 motorists for speeding above 100 miles per hour and located two pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.
