Fan Drive For Lincoln Salvation Army Underway

By Tom Stanton Jun 7, 2022 | 3:32 PM

The Salvation Army and Lincoln Westlake Ace Hardware stores have launched their 10th annual fan drive to benefit needy families this summer.

Major Mark Anderson says Westlake customers can help by rounding up their purchase at the register or making a donation through June 19th. He says all the money will go for the purchase of new box fans.

“With the economy the way it is and the cost of energy sometimes the fan is a less expensive alternative to turning on an air conditioning system,” Anderson says.  “Many of the families don’t even have that available.”   The fan drive will run through June 19 and the box fans will be distributed beginning in July.

Since starting the campaign, more than $26,000 has been donated, equating to 1,700 fans given to those in need.   “When the Fan Drive started ten years ago, we really had no idea the impact it would end up having on the communities we serve,” says Andy Schmitt, vice president and COO of Westlake Ace Hardware. “The Fan Drive speaks directly to who we are as a company. We are truly humbled and grateful for our partnership with The Salvation Army and look forward to continuing to make a positive impact in the lives of our friends, customers, and neighbors.”
