Nov. 13 ends Veterans Day festivities in the capital. Following Friday’s Veterans Walk of Recognition and subsequent ceremony at Antelope Park, Sunday’s Veterans Parade will further honor America’s service members.
The parade will step off from 21st and K St and move west to S 14th St. The flag corps will stop at the State Capitol ahead of the parade, where the opening ceremony will begin. Numerous speakers, including Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and retired service members, will deliver remarks before the parade resumes. Antonio Marino, the parade’s commander, tells KLIN News the procession will conclude at around 3:30. While the parade honors all veterans, thanking and celebrating the military’s female veterans are a particular focus this year.
This year’s parade will see the event return to its full strength following two years of it proceeding in a reduced capacity due to the pandemic. Many of Lincoln’s streets will be closed from 12:30. The parade will air live on LNKTV, the city government access channel. LNKTV is available on Allo channel 2 and Spectrum channel 1300. The parade will also be streamed on LKTV’s website, YouTube, and Facebook. LNKTV apps are also available on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV.Marino encourages spectators to arrive by 1:30 for prime viewing opportunities.
