Two Milwaukee men ended up in jail following a traffic stop on eastbound I-80 near 56th Street in Lincoln Tuesday morning. Lancaster County Sheriff Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the vehicle was stopped around 9:15 for straddling the center line.

Deputies made contact with the 28 year old Joseph Thomas and his passenger Jovan Thornton. “We located a 9 mm handgun right inside the door, Houchin says.  “We also found another 9 mm handgun inside the glove box.”

Houchin says they developed probable cause to search the vehicle and found 95 pounds of marijuana, 111 THC vape cartridges and eight packages of THC gummies inside the vehicle.

Thomas was arrested and booked for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, evading drug tax and possession of money during a drug violation.   Thornton was booked for possession of a controlled substance, evading drug tax, possession of money during a drug violation, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and concealed handgun permit violation.
