Froggy 98 (KFGE-FM) Afternoon host Brooke Summers has been named one of three recipients of the Rusty Walker Scholarship for CRS 2023. As such, Brooke receives airfare, hotel accommodations, and registration to the event, held March 13-15 at the Omni Nashville Hotel in Nashville, Tenn.
Brooke Summers has been with NRG Media / Broadcast House Media in Lincoln, Neb. since 2021.
Country Radio Seminar (CRS) is a three-day educational event gathering key business leaders in various radio and music industry fields, featuring presentations on best business practices, emerging technology, personal career development, and new music showcases. The scholarship is named after Rusty Walker, an iconic programmer, consultant, and esteemed Country Radio Hall of Fame inductee who passed suddenly in 2012. Walker was known for mentoring many of the brightest minds and strongest leaders in country music, and as such this scholarship encourages younger broadcast professionals to learn, excel and lead.
“To say that I’m honored is an understatement,” shares Brooke. “The last fourteen months in Country radio have been an absolute whirlwind, and earning this opportunity to continue to learn and grow is mind-blowingly exciting! See you soon, Nashville.”
OM/PD Steve King remarks, “There are very few people in this life that you meet and feel their genuine excitement, charisma and talent. Brooke is that rare person, yet she is as humble as it comes. She connects with Country music on the air in such a special way that you know she is passionate about the music and the artists, some of whom she knows personally! Her show makes you want to be her friend. It is almost a lost art, but Brooke’s show is a one-on-one connection that the audience feels. We get emails and messages of love about her all the time. Brooke is not only a talent, but encompasses what most of us strive to achieve, and she is very deserving of this award.”
Rusty Walker Scholars will be recognized during the opening ceremonies of CRS 2023. To learn more about the Rusty Walker Scholarship and view a full listing of past RW scholars, visit the Country Radio Seminar website.
