Lincoln Police say if you recently used the ATM at the Walgreens at 14th and Superior make sure you review your credit card or bank statements. They were called to the store around 4:00 Thursday afternoon.
“An employee servicing the ATM noticed a false keypad had been applied over the top of the actual keypad,” says Captain Todd Kocian. “Upon further inspection a card skimmer was located inside the card terminal.”
All of the unauthorized equipment was removed from the ATM. Police are now trying to determine how long it had been in place and who put it there. “If you’ve used this ATM recently, we recommend that you review your credit card and bank statements for any suspicious activity or charges,” Kocian says.
If you’re ever concerned that your credit or debit card has been compromised, contact your bank immediately and request a new card.
