Lincoln authorities were called to the area of 28th and Fletcher Avenue on Saturday, August 5th, around 5:30 p.m. where a 37-year-old Lincoln woman recounted her vehicle being stolen as she temporarily left her 2005 Pontiac Vibe to fulfill a Door Dash delivery.
Lincoln Police Sergeant Chris Vollmer said the woman told arriving officers that an unknown woman entered her vehicle and drove away.
Aided by the Door Dash app, officers were able to track the vehicle’s location. The stolen Pontiac was traced to the area of 27th & Vine Street.
When found, the female driver parked the car and attempted to flee from approaching officers. She was taken into custody a block over on 28th & Vine…and law enforcement identified the girl as 12-years-of- age.
The 12-year-old now faces legal consequences. “She was referred for Theft by Receiving and Obstructing a Police Officer,” said Sgt. Vollmer. In accordance with Juvenile Probation’s guidance, the minor was directed to Cedars for further processing.
