Mega Millions Jackpot Rises to Largest In History: $1.58 billion

By Chase Porter Aug 8, 2023 | 3:52 PM

An unforgettable run of 31 consecutive Mega Millions Lottery drawings without a jackpot winner…the pot has climbed to its highest estimated value in history for tonight’s pull: $1.58 billion or $783.3 million with the cash option selected.

The run began on April 21, at $20 million, and climbed steadily for the last 109 days.

Previously, the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won occurred in October 2018 when one winner in South Carolina won a $1.537 billion jackpot.

Tonight’s numbers will be drawn at 10 p.m. CT at the Nebraska Lottery website, nelottery.com. If no one wins, the next will be Friday, August 11th at 10 p.m.

Play Responsibly

Because of the high jackpot, the Nebraska Lottery encourages customers to play within their means. “It’s important for Nebraska Lottery players to remember that no matter how large the Mega Millions jackpot is, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 302 million,” said Lottery Director Brian Rockey. “Your odds of winning remain the same, regardless of how many tickets are purchased or how many people play.” If you or someone you know has a problem with compulsive gambling, free help is available at problemgambling.nebraska.gov.
