The Lancaster County Criminal Interdiction Unit tried to stop a car for having tinted windows and following to close Thursday evening.  Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the vehicle refused to stop and a pursuit was initiated.

He says a deputy deployed stop sticks on westbound I-80 near NW 48th Street, but the driver was able to avoid them.  He then got off at the exit and drove into the Shoemakers parking lot.

“The driver tried to run on foot and was taken into custody, Houhin says.  “A witness to the pursuit saw him throw a backpack out of the vehicle at the exit.”  Deputies went up and found the backpack and 11 pounds of methamphetamine inside.

Houchin identified the man as 49-year-old Jason Pemberton of Omaha. He was cited for possession of a controlled substance, fleeing to avoid a felony, no seatbelt, suspended license and littering.
