Just before 5:30 Friday morning Lincoln Police were called to the European Grocery Store and Deli near 47th and Superior to investigate a burglary. ” Two witnesses called to report they had just observed an individual wearing a grey hoody and shorts jump through the broken front glass door and run away,” says Captain Todd Kocian.
He says arriving officers found 20-year-old Deng Mengelkamp of Lincoln near Superior and Bel-Ridge Drive and he matched the description provided by the witnesses. Mengelkamp was ultimately arrested for burglary and booked into jail.
Kocian says Mengelkamp tossed a brick through the glass door and damage is estimated at $500.
