The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department has released results of the recent ‘Make It Click’ traffic enforcement campaign geared towards increasing awareness and the usage of seatbelts and child restraint systems.
LSO increased the number of deputies in marked patrol cars from May 24 through June 02 The additional deputies were utilized for saturation patrol to enforce traffic law violations throughout the county.
During the campaign deputies stopped 196 vehicles and issued 171 official traffic citations. 84 drivers were cited for speeding and 20 for stop sign violations. There were five citations issued for no seat belts and 30 for registration and insurance violations.
There were other citations issued for a variety of offenses. Criminal citations were issued to one person for possession of a controlled substance and one for criminal impersonation. Overtime for the additional deputies working during the mobilization will be paid through a mini grant funded by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
