Lincoln Police are investigating after a man was scammed out of $500 in a recent extortion scam. “The 24-year-old victim reported he had been using a social media app when an unknown number sent him a nude photo of himself,” says Captain Todd Kocian.
“He was told to send $500 or the photos would be sent to all his Facebook friends.” After sending the initial $500, Kocian says the caller then demanded another $500. “At that point the victim realized it was a scam and didn’t send any additional money.”
Kocian cautions everyone about sending explicit photos on the internet and through social media.
