A 75-year-old Waverly woman has become the latest victim of a bit coin scam and it cost her $4,000.   LSO Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the woman reported the fraud on Wednesday.  “She gets an alert from Apple on her phone saying her credit card was fraudulently used to buy child pornography.”

He says the woman became concerned and called the number.  She was then convinced to go to her bank in Waverly and withdraw the money.  “She was told to deposit $2,ooo into a Bitcoin machine in Lincoln,” Houchin says.

He says the woman became concerned that it was a scam, but the caller used the fear tactic and convinced her to deposit $2,000 more.  She also downloaded an app that gave the scammers access to her phone.
