Ground was broken Tuesday morning on the new 45,000 square foot Life Sciences Center on the Southeast Community College Campus in Lincoln. The three-story facility will house the biology, anatomy, physiology, organismal biology, BSL biology, and microbiology  programs under one roof.

SCC officials say enrollment in health sciences and physical sciences transfer programs has reached an all-time high and the new center will give students access to education they need and is expected to be open for the Fall 2028 semester.

The facility will be connected to the Sandhills Global Technology Center and will include a mix of offices, classrooms, laboratories and shared common areas. It’s expected to open for the Fall 2028 semester.
