Lincoln Parks and Recreation officials say a prescribed burn is planned for part of Wilderness Park on Wednesday. The City says crews will conduct the burn from noon until 3 p.m. on about eight acres, located just south of the Bison Trail on the park’s north end.
There are no closures tied to the project, but community members are being asked to avoid the area while the work is underway. Greenways District Supervisor Aaron Druery says controlled burns are an important tool for managing native plants and grasses, reducing the risk of wildfires, and improving wildlife habitat.
He adds that staff carefully monitor weather and air quality conditions to keep the burn safe.
