Nebraska senior shortstop Dylan Carey was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, while freshman outfielder Drew Grego earned Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors, headlining the list of Nebraska baseball players honored by the Big Ten Conference, as the league announced its postseason awards Tuesday.
Carey and pitcher Carson Jasa were named first-team All-Big Ten, while J’Shawn Unger, Case Sanderson, Mac Moyer and Grego were named second-team all-conference.
The Cornhuskers earned a school-record 23 conference wins this season, snagging second place in the Big Ten standings. Nebraska has a bye to the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament. The Huskers will be in action Friday at 5 p.m., with pregame coverage at 4:30 p.m. on KLIN.
