Lincoln Animal Control provided an update Wednesday on a beaver they rescued during extremely cold temps back in January. That North American Beaver was recently released back into the wild and went for a sunset swim.
Animal Control officials say the beaver had been recovering in rehab since it was found covered in icicles, thin and limping near a liquor store in Lincoln. After finding him struggling along the sidewalk of a busy street, they says it was a clear sign that he was displaced and needed help.
He was immediately transported to The Baldwin Wildlife Center and after several months of specialized care, Animal Control says the resilient beaver made a full recovery and it was time for him to return to the wild.
Nebraska Wildlife Rehab, Inc. shared some photos of the beaver as he was set free.
