City Releases Traffic Plan for Savannah Bananas Game at Memorial Stadium

Lincoln City officials are encouraging fans heading to Saturday night’s Savannah Bananas game at Memorial Stadium to plan ahead and expect heavy traffic around downtown and the Haymarket. LTU says thousands of visitors are expected for the 7 p.m. game, and several construction projects and temporary street closures could affect travel times.

Officials are urging motorists to check current road conditions before leaving by visiting the City’s street closure website or using the Waze app for real-time traffic information. Drivers should be aware that ongoing construction on ‘O’ Street in downtown Lincoln and bridge replacement work along Interstate 180 and Sun Valley Boulevard may create additional delays.

To reduce congestion, the City recommends visitors arrive early and use designated routes based on where they are entering Lincoln. Travelers coming from Interstate 80 are encouraged to use Airport Exit 399 when heading to Haymarket parking areas.

Several traffic control measures will take effect before and after the game. Southbound Ninth Street near Memorial Stadium will close two hours before first pitch, while additional closures on P, Q and R streets will help direct traffic into the Haymarket district.

Following the game, portions of 10th Street, Salt Creek Roadway and surrounding streets will be restricted or temporarily closed to help pedestrians leave the stadium safely and keep traffic moving.  City officials also remind visitors that parking meters remain enforced on Saturdays from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Drivers can pay by coin, credit card or through the Passport Parking app.
