Nebraska shortstop Dylan Carey was named as the winner of the Brooks Wallace Award as college baseball’s top shortstop Saturday at the Men’s College World Series in Omaha.
Carey turned in a .353 batting average with 16 doubles, two triples, 15 home runs, 65 RBI and 53 runs scored. The Castle Rock, Colo., native became the program’s all-time leader in career doubles this season and was the ninth Husker in program history to reach 200 career hits, 150 runs and 150 RBI. He was also named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year this season. He was a third-team All-American according to Perfect Game.
