A 25-year-old Lincoln woman was arrested early Saturday morning after police say she refused officers’ commands during a downtown fight and later injured an officer while being taken into custody. According to LPD, officers were patrolling the downtown area near 8th and Q streets at around 2:20 a.m. when they saw a group of individuals involved in a physical altercation.

Police say officers approached the group, issued commands, and eventually separated those involved. However, investigators say Alieyya Jones refused to comply with officers’ orders and continued attacking other individuals.

Jones was taken into custody, and police say that while she was being detained, she kicked an officer twice in the knee, causing the officer’s knee to hyperextend and resulting in pain. Jones was booked into jail for assault on a peace officer, resisting arrest, and disturbing the peace.

Lincoln Police are asking anyone with additional information about the incident, including video or audio recordings, to contact the non-emergency number at 402-441-6000. Those wishing to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
