Lincoln massage therapist Victor Zweerink has lost his state license for at least two years after admitting to multiple allegations of professional misconduct involving clients. The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office says, under a settlement with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Zweerink’s massage therapy license has been revoked for a minimum of two years.
He must also pay a $20,000 civil penalty, the maximum allowed under Nebraska law. Any future reinstatement would require payment of the fine and approval from both DHHS and the Nebraska Board of Massage Therapy.
The Attorney General’s office says the disciplinary petition alleged Zweerink engaged in misconduct involving multiple clients, failed to maintain professional boundaries, and did not report his termination from a massage therapy business as required.
The petition also alleged his actions amounted to sexual misconduct, immoral or dishonorable conduct, and gross incompetence or negligence. According to the settlement, State officials encourage anyone who believes they have experienced misconduct by a licensed health professional to contact the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Licensure Unit.
