Lincoln Police say a missing 12-year-old Lincoln boy has been found following an investigation that stretched across several states. LPD Captain Todd Kocian says the boy was reported missing on June 26 after leaving home to visit a friend’s house and never returning.
Investigators spent several days following up on tips and interviewing numerous people before learning the child had traveled by bus to Texarkana, Texas, with a friend and the friend’s mother. LPD enlisted the help of the U.S. Marshals Metro Fugitive Task Force, the U.S. Marshals Western District of Arkansas Fugitive Task Force and the Texarkana Police Department.
The boy was found Thursday around noon. “Our investigators continued to follow every lead and worked closely with our law enforcement partners to locate this child safely,” Kocian says. “This is a great example of interagency cooperation leading to a successful resolution.”
Police arrested 49-year-old Tracy Riley for violation of custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Arrangements are being made to return the child to Lincoln.
