A man wanted for attempted murder in Illinois is in custody after being stopped by the Nebraska State Patrol on Interstate 80 near the Wyoming border. Patrol spokesman Cody Thomas says troopers working with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested 24-year-old Niccolo Luis-Michael Moylan on Monday in Kimball County.
The patrol says Moylan was wanted by the Hancock County, Illinois, Sheriff’s Office in connection with an attempted murder investigation stemming from a June 26 incident. Thomas says the U.S. Marshals Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force alerted Nebraska authorities that Moylan was traveling west on I-80.
The information was passed to the U.S. Marshals Service Metro Fugitive Task Force in Nebraska, which requested assistance from NSP. Troopers found the Honda Pilot Moylan was riding in between Kimball and the Wyoming state line and conducted a traffic stop near mile marker 8.
Investigators say Moylan initially gave troopers a false name, but officers used a mobile fingerprint scanner to confirm his identity before taking him into custody without incident. During the stop, troopers reportedly recovered about 22 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 5 grams of suspected fentanyl from the vehicle.
Two other occupants, 19-year-old Aiden Derr and 48-year-old Kenneth Bouchard, were also arrested.
