The Lincoln Police Department has kicked off its Fall 2026 police academy with 20 new recruits beginning training. Three recruits from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office are also part of the class.
LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says with the new academy underway, the department has reached 374 sworn officers, or 101 percent of its authorized staffing level of 371.
Thomas says the continued growth is a positive sign for recruiting and staffing efforts.
