A familiar face and voice in Nebraska weather is receiving one of broadcasting’s highest honors tonight. Former 10/11 meteorologist Ken Siemek will be inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame during the NBA’s annual convention in Lincoln.
“If you would have told me in October of 1981 when I started out at Channel 10 that this is how my career would end, would be getting inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Hall of Fame, I would have told you were crazy.” Siemek tells KLIN News.
During his career, he helped guide viewers through some of Nebraska’s most dangerous weather events, including the October 1997 snowstorm that left Lincoln without power for days, the deadly 2004 Hallam tornado, the statewide flooding of 2019 and the Arbor Day 2024 tornado outbreak.
Simek says the Hall of Fame honor is especially meaningful because of the company he’s joining, Kevin Kugler, John Knicely and former KLIN personality Steve Lundy. “The honor itself is more than I would have ever thought was headed my way. But to go in with those three gentlemen, it is really an honor and I’m just so excited.”
