A Lincoln man is behind bars after police say he clocked over one hundred miles per hour on ‘O’ Street before crashing his car. Police say around 1:30 a.m. Sergeant Sara Genoways, LPD’s Traffic Unit Supervisor, spotted a Chevy Impala flying westbound near 48th and O.’
Police say radar showed the car traveling at 104 miles per hour in a 40 mile per hour zone. Investigators say before the officer could turn around, the driver lost control near 42nd Street. The vehicle hit the median, crossed into oncoming traffic, and slammed into a retaining wall.
Police say other cars were nearby, but miraculously, no one else was hit. The driver of the Impala, 35-year-old Mohammed Ramadan, was not hurt. Investigators say Ramadan was hostile and uncooperative with first responders.
He was eventually arrested and booked for DUI with a blood alcohol content over .15, willful reckless driving, speeding, and possession of marijuana.
