The Nebraska State Fair is less than 10 days away, and organizers say they are looking forward to opening the gates for the 11 day event. Courtney Glock, marketing director for the Nebraska State Fair, tells KLIN news crews are working hard to get the fairgrounds ready.
“Our office is buzzing. We are all so busy working long hours and coming in early, getting everything set up.” This year’s fair will include special events celebrating America’s 250th birthday, including more patriotic displays, performances and contests.
Glock says the Labor Day celebration will focus on Nebraska veterans and American heroes, with astronaut and Nebraska native Clayton Anderson serving as keynote speaker. Sky jumpers are also scheduled to land at the fair.
Food will once again be a major attraction, with new offerings including a spicy stuffed cucumber, wood-fired pizza and loaded corndogs. New elephant ear flavors include caramel apple crunch and Snickers.
Live entertainment will feature more than 60 Nebraska bands, along with national acts including Home Free, Shinedown and Hardy, as well as KC and the Sunshine Band. Glock says the fair remains an end-of-summer tradition that brings Nebraskans together.
“Every year, you know, we have 11 days. We bring people from every corner of the state together.” Glock says the fair offers something for all ages and encourages families to end the summer in Grand Island.
