A northwest Lincoln home was damaged by fire Monday afternoon. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the fire broke out in a garage on NW 7th near W. Leon Drive. She says LFR crews were called after reports the fire had spread from the garage toward the house.
Lierman says there was an initial report that someone might be trapped on the second floor, but everyone was safely evacuated. Lierman says crews initially used an offensive strategy to attack the fire.
A fire inspector determined the fire was caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials. Damage is estimated at $30,000 and no injuries were reported.
