Nebraska’s unemployment rate stood at 2.9% in August, according to new data from the Nebraska Department of Labor.
The state’s unemployment rate was 1.2 percentage points below the national rate of 4.1%.
NDOL reported Nebraska’s civilian labor force totaled 1,095,992 people during the month. Of those, 1,064,352 were employed and 31,640 were unemployed.
The unemployment rate represents the percentage of people in the labor force who are without a job and actively seeking work, rather than the percentage of the state’s overall population that is unemployed.

NDOL is scheduled to release its September employment report on Oct. 20.
