Drivers will encounter several new street closures across Lincoln beginning Monday as crews undertake paving, utility, crane and street improvement projects.
Centennial Mall between M and N streets will close Monday for private crane work. The closure is expected to remain in place through Oct. 9, while M and N streets will remain open.
Van Dorn Street between 98th and 112th streets will also close Monday for a paving project expected to continue into early November. Lincoln Transportation and Utilities recommends drivers use 98th Street or 148th Street and Old Cheney Road to get around the closure.
Turning restrictions will also begin Monday at 56th Street and Cornhusker Highway. Left turns from 56th Street onto Cornhusker Highway and from Cornhusker onto 56th will be prohibited through Oct. 2 as part of a street improvement project.
A separate project will close westbound O Street between 9th and 10th streets beginning Monday for water-main replacement. The intersections at 9th and O and 10th and O will remain open to northbound and southbound traffic.
Another O Street closure begins Wednesday. Eastbound O Street between 11th and 12th streets will close for utility work through Oct. 2. The intersections at 11th and 12th streets will remain open.
LTU encourages drivers to use alternate routes and exercise caution around the construction areas. Project schedules may change because of weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
