Nebraska middle blocker Andi Jackson was named Big Ten Player of the Week after a dominant 3-0 week in which she helped the top-ranked Cornhuskers to sweeps over Missouri, Rutgers and Ohio State. Jackson averaged 3.33 kills/set for the weekend and hit a blistering .578 on 45 attacks in the three matches, the best hitting percentage of any Big Ten attacker last week. She piled up 14 blocks and 31 kills in Nebraska’s three wins.
Jackson was especially dominant in Wednesday’s non-conference match against the Tigers. She totaled 10 kills with no errors on 15 attacks, a .667 hitting percentage, while adding six blocks and two aces. Jackson racked up 14 kills while hitting .632 in Friday’s win over the Scarlet Knights.
Jackson is the second Husker in three weeks to earn Big Ten Player of the Week, as Manaia Ogbechie grabbed the honor on Sept. 14. It’s the third time a Nebraska player has been honored by the conference this year, as Bergen Reilly also earned setter of the week from the league the first week of the season.
