Students, faculty, staff and the public will have an opportunity next month to help shape the search for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s next chancellor. According to the Nebraska Examiner, listening sessions November 12 and 13 will gather input on the qualities and experience the university should seek in its next leader.
NU Executive Vice President and Provost David Jackson chairs the newly appointed 30-member search advisory committee, which includes university representatives, students and business and community leaders. National search firm WittKieffer will assist with recruiting and evaluating candidates.
The position description is expected to be released in late December or early January. NU President Jeffrey Gold anticipates presenting a finalist to the Board of Regents in June 2027.
The search follows Rodney Bennett’s resignation in January. Interim Chancellor Kathy Ankerson has expressed interest in the permanent position.
