Nebraska Community Blood Bank (NCBB) continues to operate as an essential part of our healthcare system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Donating blood is a safe and simple way to support the health of our community, and only volunteer donors can provide the blood products patients rely on. Nearly 100% of the blood donated with NCBB stays right here in Nebraska.
NCBB has implemented additional safety measures to keep donors and staff safe, including social distancing and restricted access at donor centers, making appointments mandatory to help maintain distancing, and additional screening measures for donors and staff. As always, donors must be free from any cold or flu-like symptoms for at least 72 hours to be eligible to give.
Please consider making an appointment to give blood or platelets in the coming weeks. Contact Nebraska Community Blood Bank to schedule and to learn more about how we keep donors and staff safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic: NCBB.ORG, 1-877-986-9414.
Blood drives contribute about 50% of our local blood supply, and these events wouldn’t be possible without blood drive coordinators who bring blood donation opportunities to their organizations. For Justine, hosting blood drives at Buildertrend is personal. Thank you Justine for being a generous blood donor and for inspiring others to give! Visit ncbb.org/Host-A-Drive to sign up to host a drive.
