Normally, when you call 911 you are calling for any emergency. Some people qualify emergencies a little bit differently than others.
In this particular instance, Cheryl Nanartonis from a Jensen Beach FL called 911 to let them know that her refrigerator was no longer working.
And no, this is not one of those “Florida” stories…
Being that Cheryl is elderly and on a fixed income, she was not able to replace the refrigerator and her food was spoiling. Also because of her fixed income replacing the food would have also been costly. And then there is the pandemic, going out to eat is also not an option.
What happened next is truly an act from the heart.
While the police in Martin County have to respond to every 911 call they receive, the officers arrived at Cheryl’s house and realized how distraught she was. So the officers sprung into action went to a good will and with their own money purchased a refrigerator for cheryl. This helped her save all of the food in her refrigerator and put a smile on her face. You can see from the Facebook post below
