The suspect in a quadruple homicide in the northeast Nebraska community in early August has been released from the hospital and has been booked into jail
42 year old Jason Jones of Laurel was discharged from CHI St. Elizabeth in Lincoln Wednesday morning. In the early morning hours of August 5, troopers with the Nebraska State patrol SWAT Team found Jones with significant burns while they were serving a warrant at his home in Laurel.
Jones was taken to St. Elizabeth’s where he had been receiving treatment ever since. Jones was transported to the Nebraska Department of Corrections Reception and Treatment Center in Lincoln.
State Patrol investigators say all four murder victims had been shot. Physical evidence located at both scenes led investigators to identify Jones as the suspect. He lived across the street from one of the crime scenes.
Three of the victims were 86 year old Gene Twiford, 85 year old Janet Twiford and 55 year old Dana Twiford. The person found dead in the second home was 53 year old Michelle Ebeling. Investigators say Jones was burned after setting fire in both homes.
