Nebraska men’s basketball just didn’t have enough against their old conference foe Thursday.
In the opening round of the ESPN Events Invitational on Thanksgiving Day, the Huskers fell to Oklahoma 69-56. NU is now 3-2 on the season.
NU started off strong with the first two buckets of the game. Some back and forth, and some hot three-point shooting from OU, and the game was tied 12-12.
From there, it was all Oklahoma.
The Sooners used runs of 11-3 and 11-4 to pull away for a double-digit lead. Nebraska would cut the deficit to six a couple times, but never really threatened the rest of the way.
Coming into the contest, Oklahoma was making just 29 percent of their three-point attempts. Against Nebraska, the Sooners went 9-of-20, a 45 percent clip.
Nebraska shot just 42 percent from the floor for the game and made 3-of-14 triples.
Juwan Gary led the Husker scoring with 16 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Emmanuel Bandoumel added 13 points, including making 6-of-8 free throws.
The Huskers will play the loser of Memphis and Seton Hall Friday at 4:30 p.m. CDT.
