In the early morning hours of Dec. 12, LPD officers were called to Walton Construction at 5100 N 48th St on the report of a burglary in progress. Arriving officers found the suspect on the property, and Toby Leiting, 48, was taken into custody after a short foot chase.
Police determined that Leiting arrived at the scene hauling a trailer that was reported stolen in October, and it’s thought Leiting was trying to steal approximately 35 gallons of gasoline. Leiting was initially cited and jailed for theft, possessing burglars’ tools, and driving during a 15-year revocation. He was further cited and released for attempted theft, obstructing a police officer, and trespassing.
