Lincoln Police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with a shooting early New Year’s Day that left two men wounded. LPD says Frederick Gooch of Lincoln was arrested around 5:20 Sunday evening for First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault and two counts of Use of a
Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony.
Police say the two victims were wounded when gunshots rang out near 30th and Vine just after 3:00 a.m. Sunday. When officers arrived they found a 26-year-old man inside a home with gunshots wounds and a 27-year-old man outside the residence with a single gunshot wound.
Both were taken to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. Captain Todd Kocian says the 26-year-old man remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition. The 27-year-old man was treated and released from the hospital.
