Damage Estimated At $1 Million Following Building Fire

Lincoln Fire and Rescue crews found heavy black smoke coming from an industrial building near 6th and Calvert when they arrived around 11:00 Monday morning. LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the fire started in one of the garage bays.

She says the initial crews attacked the flames and prevented it from spreading to the entire nine unit bay.  She says there was fire damage to two adjoining garages and smoke damage to the other six units.

Lierman says an asphalt roller compactor that someone started in one of the garages sparked the fire.  Damage to the building is estimated at $500,000 and nearly $500,000 to the contents stored in the garages.

No one was injured.
